Registered Product Information

Manufacturer: SAMSON AG
Product Name: 373x-5
Product Description: Electropneumatic Positioner
Profile: FOUNDATION Field Device
More Information: SAMSON´s 3730 Positioner Series includes the intelligent Type 3730-5 Positioner, which, like all the other positioners from this product family, ensures an ultra-fast control loop with excellent control effectiveness to meet the requirements of any process application. The arbitrary mounting position and display readable in any direction make it possible to attach the positioner to nearly any type of linear and rotary valve. Thanks to its rotary pushbutton and LC display, the positioner is easy to operate. A powerful microprocessor enables the Type 3730-5 Positioner to communicate over FOUNDATION TM Fieldbus. Its integral PID controller and its ability to become a LAS allow it to create control loops for controlling the process directly in the field. In addition, the Type 3730-5 offers various functions and parameters to optimize the control such as an adjustable tight-closing function, various characteristics, adjustable transit times, limitation of the travel range, etc.  The implemented discrete input and output function blocks allows the control and monitoring of On/Off Valves.  The Type 3730-5 Positioner has four initialization modes which provide maximum user friendliness. These automatic initialization modes allow the positioner to adapt itself optimally to the friction conditions and signal pressure demand of the control valve. The positioner can be initialized either by pressing a key on the positioner, or over the bus by using the start-up methods implemented in the DD or by using the SAMSON specific serial interface and software for setting and starting up the positioner. For cost-optimized predictive maintenance, the positioner provides a wide range of device-specific and valve-specific diagnostic and status messages. These messages are recorded and evaluated directly in the device. The Type 3730-5 automatically generates classified alarms and status reports intended for further processing. There are two different diagnostic levels: * Standard diagnostic information: operating time counter, process supervision, temperature sensor, recording of the last 30 alarms, travel counter, ... * Enhanced diagnostic information: data logger, histograms, cycle counter, Y=f(x) diagram, final position and hysteresis tests, ... Optionally, the Type 3730-5 can be equipped with an integral solenoid valve with SIL 4 approval whose task is to force the valve to move into its fail-safe position, with an adjustable inductive limit switch, and a binary input for floating contacts.

Device Support File Usage

FieldComm Group (FCG) makes available to its members and to the public certain device driver (DD) files, in various forms, that have passed certain tests conducted by or through FCG. The DD files are, or are created from, submissions to FCG by FCG members and are provided by FCG AS IS. FCG disclaims all liability for the accuracy, suitability or use of the DD files. Each member creating DD files has its own policies regarding supporting use of those files, and may, for instance support use of DD object code files, but not DeviceInfo or other files. While FCG is under no obligation to provide support for use of any DD files, FCG welcomes all inquiries on the subject and will often be able to assist.
